Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 was officially announced in February 2024. Pre Orders began on 23 February 2024 and the devices were made available on February 23, 2024. It landed in Kenya in March 2024. The Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 succeeds the Samsung Galaxy Fit 2 as the top new Samsung Galaxy Watch flagship.  Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 is available at www.mojakart.co.ke at Ksh.

The watch has a 1.6-inch AMOLED display, a metallic case, a physical home button, and a 208mAh battery. It can track over 100 types of workouts, including swimming, as it has a 5ATM/IP68 rating. It also has a physical home button, Bluetooth 5.3 support, and 256MB of internal storage. However, it lacks GPS and NFC, so you would need your phone to be with you for some outdoor activities.

Design

The Galaxy Fit 3 marks the Fit series’ complete redesign. The rubber fitness band look is out, and it is a new smartwatch-like design that seemingly draws some inspiration from the Apple Watch.

The Galaxy Fit 3’s internal components are housed in a sandblasted aluminum case attached to silicone wrist straps through a one-click mechanism. The latter makes detaching and replacing the straps easier.

The new Galaxy Fit 3 is lighter than the predecessor, and you can feel it immediately.

Charging happens via the provided proprietary Samsung 2-pin cable, which also has magnets to help snap into place easier.

The slim aluminum body, as light as 18.5g, will not weigh you down or get in your way during workouts. Plus, 5ATM and IP68 ratings mean it is ready to face raindrops or dust. Look workout-ready and stay fit.

Display

The Galaxy Fit 3 has a 1.6-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 256 x 402 pixels, which is considerably larger than the 1.1-inch AMOLED screen seen on the Galaxy Fit 2. This type of display technology offers vibrant colors, deep blacks, and excellent contrast, making it well-suited for fitness tracking purposes.

The body on the newer Galaxy Fit 3 model is made of aluminum, as opposed to the polycarbonate chassis of the older model.

The display is touch-sensitive, allowing users to interact with the device easily, whether it’s navigating menus, viewing notifications, or tracking fitness metrics. Platform

The Galaxy Fit 3 is powered by a different operating system called FreeRTOS unlike other Galaxy Watches, which run Wear OS and One UI Watch. It’s fairly lightweight but boasts 100 watch faces and Galaxy Fit 3 users get extra features like SmartThings Find, remote Camera shutter functionality, and media playback controls. However, since the Galaxy Fit 3 lacks a microphone and speaker, it can’t be used to answer phone calls.

The Samsung Galaxy Fit 3 is primarily a fitness tracker, so it doesn’t have a CPU and GPU.

Battery and Storage

The Fit 3 comes with a 208mAh battery, which is about two thirds the battery size but because of the simple operating system and no extra load with GPS, it comes with multi-day battery life. It can last up to 13 days on a single charge, beating Galaxy Watches by more than a week.

Fitness and Tracking

As far as fitness and health tracking are concerned, the wearable can detect fitness activities and a variety of workout types and track your sleep and stress levels. Everything is synced with the Samsung Health platform via the connected smartphone.

Detects falls:

Galaxy Fit3 asks if you need help when it detects a fall using built-in sensors including a barometer. For other emergencies, you can press the Home button 5 times to notify your emergency contacts. Your pre-registered medical info will be displayed on the lock screen when help arrives.

Connectivity

The Samsung Galaxy Fit3 uses Bluetooth version 5.3 to connect to your smartphone and other devices. However, it does not feature an NFC chip or built-in GPS. It uses connected GPS, meaning it needs your smartphone to track activities involving GPS positioning

The Galaxy Fit 3 is equipped with a gyro, an accelerometer, an optical heart-rate sensor, a barometer, and a light sensor capability.

These connectivity options enable the Galaxy Fit 3 to sync data, receive notifications, track activities accurately, and interact with other devices, enhancing its overall usefulness and versatility as a fitness tracker.
